12:00 PM - PLANET DJEMBE & THE MAMAXE DANCERS

Planet Djembe is a Tucson based group dedicated to performing and promoting traditional West African Percussion. This ancient music comes from countries like Mali, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), and Burkina Faso. Great teachers like Mamady Keita, Famadou Konate, and others have brought the music and dance of these countries to the west through tours and classes over the last thirty years or so.

Kristin Barnes  from Tucson, uses her training in music and psychology  to reach deep into the minds and hearts of her students,  bringing out the ideas most important to them.  She also teaches them to break through emotional barriers  and helps students release their true voice.  Remind people that all musicians will be selling their CDs by the entrance to the Palace after each performance –  Make the audience comfortable, happy and ask them to stay as more will come…

Artist confirmed - My all-time favorite bit about musician's bio's is the "hook" line in a Dan Connor song: "My life is based on a true story."  My father acted and directed in local theater, sang in chorale groups, wrote stories and poetry. . .
